This location has a lot of concrete and is at the same time an open structure, if you put the installation on one level, you will hear the sound of the sea over the whole garage, the open structure of the garage will make that you can hear it everywhere in the garage, from a distance, like you hear it at a beach. If you are at the right floor, you will hear going from left to right, as you’re close to the coast line. The cars and the traffic (city) will go into a nice contrast with the sound of the sea (nature).
Thalassa ! Thalassa ! as presented in 2016 in Concertgebouw Brugge as a part of the exhibition SURROUND. The installation was placed in a corridor, the building had a lot of concrete, and a open structure, so you could hear the sound in the corridor but also two levels up, the sound at a distance in the building was as beautiful as in the corridor itself.
